Juan Martín Alarcón

Associate

Juan Martín Alarcón is an Associate in the Natural Resources, Energy and Infrastructure Unit at Tobar ZVS, which he joined in 2017. He has over eight years of experience providing legal advice in mining and environmental law, with a focus on administrative, regulatory, corporate, and dispute resolution matters related to large-scale extractive projects.

He advises leading international mining companies on the acquisition, structuring, and development of strategic projects in Ecuador, and has participated in the negotiation of contractual, regulatory, and environmental frameworks. Juan Martín was part of the negotiating teams for the Cascabel and Cangrejos mining exploitation contracts, two of the country’s most significant mining projects.

He holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Business Law from King’s College London, and combines strong legal, regulatory, and strategic insight to support complex transactions and negotiations within Ecuador’s mining industry.
